We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the recent uncertainties and cancellations of our MAP in-person events. These challenges were unforeseen, but we are excited to share some positive developments with you.
New Partnership Announcement: We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Market Place Academy (MPA) and its esteemed network of schools. This partnership will enhance the experience and learning opportunities for everyone involved.
Event Details: Each tutoring event will host 15 JCP students and three representatives from each participating school. The selected JCP students will have the important responsibility of tutoring Grade 8 and 9 students on a designated topic for that week.
Preparation and Scheduling: At the beginning of each week, participating JCP students will receive an email with details about the departure time of the bus and the topic for that week. You must prepare thoroughly for your topic before Saturday to ensure a productive session.
Limited Space Notice: Bus transportation can accommodate only 15 JCP learners per event. If you can travel independently to the Boksburg area and wish to participate, please contact us via the KTG website. We are also investigating expanding these events into more schools. We will keep you updated.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these changes. Your dedication and participation are crucial to the success of this program, and we look forward to a successful series of events with your active involvement.
Thank you for your commitment to making a difference in the lives of young learners.
We are thrilled to remind you of the commencement of our 6-week MAP Program, a prestigious initiative designed to facilitate robust learning and support for our participants. Below are important details and guidelines for engaging in the program:
Mentee Allocation: Each participant has been assigned one or more learners and their contact details. Please handle this information with the utmost care and confidentiality, adhering strictly to the regulations outlined in the POPI Act.
Communication: We recommend creating WhatsApp groups that include your group members and assigned learners. This setup will enhance communication and ensure efficient interaction throughout the program.
Mobile Data Assistance: To ensure all participants have access to the resources, we will provide mobile data to learners who do not have internet connectivity. Data allocation will occur every Monday during the 6-week period. Applications for mobile data must be submitted by the preceding Sunday at 23:59. Should any learner become unresponsive, report this within a week so that their mobile data privileges can be revoked. This is an incentive to galvanise learners to engage more actively.
6-Week Period Structure: Each Monday, distribute all pertinent materials for the week’s topic (videos and notes) to your group’s learners. Ensuring the shared content is relevant to the mentees’ grades.
Please review the project guide for further details regarding the 6-week program. Any further questions can be directed to the Telegram group, or you can contact us via the KTG website.
We look forward to your active participation and enthusiasm in making the most of this program. Your role is crucial in shaping a supportive learning environment for your learners.
I hope this message finds you well and focused on your academic endeavours. We regret to inform you of the cancellation of the MAP event scheduled for Saturday, 13th April.
We intended to schedule this event to accommodate students who were not engaged in semester tests during this period. However, it has come to our attention that many of you who applied to participate are, in fact, preparing for or taking semester tests on that date. In light of this, and to ensure that no student is left at a disadvantage, we have decided to cancel the event.
We understand the importance of these tutoring sessions in your academic journey and are committed to ensuring that all interested students have access to this valuable resource. To that end, we are currently exploring options to either increase the capacity of each of the remaining tutoring days or to add additional tutoring dates to the calendar. Our goal is to accommodate as many students as possible while maintaining the quality and effectiveness of the tutoring provided.
Please keep an eye on your emails, theannouncements page and our official channels for further communications regarding this adjustment. We will provide updates once more information is available and details are finalised.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause and appreciate your understanding and flexibility. Your dedication to our program is greatly appreciated, and we are here to support you in every way possible.
Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your continued commitment to your academic success.
As you prepare your budget submissions for the JCP project, using the project guide tailored to your allocated program is essential as your primary reference. This guide will be instrumental in crafting an accurate and comprehensive budget for your group.
For your budgets, each member within a group is allocated R380. For example, in a group of five, the total allocation amounts to 5 x R380 = R1900.
Your budget should adhere to the KTG budget model, which allocates 65% for transport and 35% for materials and equipment. This model should guide you in allocating your funds appropriately. We encourage you to thoroughly detail the materials and equipment section by breaking it down into smaller expenses. This is where you can apply your understanding of your allocated program’s needs to determine the necessary materials and equipment.
It’s crucial to ensure that you fully utilise the allocated funds. Remember, KTG will directly receive these funds, so it’s important to account for the full amount in your budget proposal.
Should you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out. Direct any major questions to the Telegram groups and more specific questions to your mentor, or log a help query on the KTG website.
Please be informed that due to the demands of the upcoming EBIT test week, there may be slight delays in reviewing hours and responding to emails. We will be deeply involved in ensuring that all necessary preparations and evaluations are conducted meticulously to uphold the integrity and quality of our testing process. This means our availability to address inquiries and provide immediate feedback might be limited during this period.
Please rest assured that we will try to minimise these delays and address your concerns quickly. Your understanding and patience during this time are greatly appreciated.
As you delve into your final preparations, we want to extend our best wishes to each of you writing tests this week. Remember, the effort you put in now is the foundation for your future successes. Stay focused, believe in your abilities, and approach each test with confidence and determination.
If you have any urgent issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out, and we will get back to you at our earliest convenience. Let’s work together to make this test week a period of achievement and growth.
Good luck, and may your hard work be rewarded with excellent results!
The review of offline work submissions received before 10:00 today has been completed. If you submitted your work before 10:00 today, please request an hours summary to verify if it has been approved.
For those whose submissions were not approved, kindly review the corresponding comments provided and make the necessary adjustments. You are required to resubmit your revised work before the deadline at 23:59 tonight to ensure it is considered.
Remember that the deadline for the Offline Work is at 23:59 tonight (Sunday 17th March).
No late submissions will be considered for any reason, including submission problems at the last minute.
We sincerely apologize for the delay in pairing those of you who have filled out the unresponsive mentee form with a new mentee. You may log hours if you made attempts to contact them, even if they did not respond. We are currently navigating the intricacies of obtaining mentee contact details, ensuring compliance with the POPI Act, and obtaining parental permission. In the meantime, please take a moment to fill out the unresponsive mentee form if you haven’t. It would be easy to find reliable learners in private schools with Wi-Fi at home and parents that check up on them to make sure they are using this resource, but that takes away from the core objective of JCP. The learners are problematic due to the environment the exist in. We try to help the ones who want to be helped, and sometimes that means give them an opportunity, and then, if they don’t take it, give it to someone else.
This is just a friendly reminder that the offline work task is due at 23h59 on Sunday the 17th of March. Please remember that reviews of these submissions can take up to 3 working days. Therefore, we strongly recommend submitting your work as early as possible to allow ample time for any necessary adjustments.
In order to ensure that your submissions meet the required standards and to avoid your hours being declined, please adhere closely to the specifications outlined in the project guide.
Due to delays in funding caused by the recent protests, we regret to inform you that our in-person tutoring event originally scheduled for the 16th of March has been cancelled. In light of this, we have secured a new date for our in-person tutoring session. The new session will take place on the 13th of April. *Please note that this date falls at the end of EBIT Test Week 1.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.
For those of you who took Mathematics Literacy in high school, please could you attend the Google Meet at 18h30 on Thursday the 7th of March for further information on how the MAP Program will work for you.

I am pleased to inform you that the project guide has been updated. All previously missing links have now been added, enabling you to view your group’s topic allocation and request your allocated mentees. Currently, you may be assigned one or two mentees. Please be aware that this number may increase as we gather more learner data. Should you be allocated additional mentees, you will be notified via email.
I encourage you to initiate contact with your mentees as soon as possible. Introduce yourself as a KTG mathematics tutor assigned to assist them with mathematics-related queries, and physics too, if you’re comfortable with that subject. It’s important to understand that they may not have constant access to mobile data, so responses to your messages may be delayed.
Thank you for your commitment to helping our learners excel. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.
As previously mentioned, there are no “site visits” for KTG. All the initial information you require for your project proposals was explained in the KTG presentation on the Friday of JCP week. If you need additional information, please look at the KTG website as well as your project guide. Furthermore, you do not requirea KTG signature on your project proposal. You should paste the KTG logo in place of the signature on your proposal.
Additionally, we ask that any communication between yourself and KTG be conducted through the KTG website’s contact form – on the KTG website dedicated to JCP, not the official KTG website dedicated to our stakeholders. Please avoid communicating with KTG through Edusource.
The KTG administration team has been instructed to ignore any further emails relating to the above information.
In light of the ongoing administrative protests, it is highly unlikely that JCP funding will be secured in time for the events scheduled on the 2nd and 9th of March. Consequently, these in-person events have been cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Furthermore, we are in the process of finalising the numbers for your mentee and topic allocations and will provide updates accordingly.
For the project proposal that each group is required to submit to JCP. In the section designated for the community partner signature, you may replace it with the KTG logo (click here to download) and proceed with submission. Approval from us is not necessary.
