Building Victorious Women

We are thrilled to share the remarkable success of our recent Building Victorious Women event – a dynamic convergence of empowerment and knowledge-sharing. This event, seamlessly integrated with our “Girls Code 2” competition and the invigorating book quiz, was an inspiring celebration of growth, learning and our future women leaders. What an exhilarating journey it has been!

A highlight of the event was the engaging book quiz competition, graced by generous book donations from the esteemed Dr Judy Dlamini. These empowering literary treasures made sure to kindle a thirst for knowledge and drive among our girls. Books hold the keys to wisdom and experiences beyond our own. This competition was a golden opportunity for young girls to delve into the captivating narratives of individuals who have defied odds, shattered ceilings, and reached the zenith of success. Discover their journeys, challenges, and the lessons they learned along the way. A big shoutout to Refilwe Ngwenya, who took her time and effort to guide the learners through the knowledge journey and of reading the books with them.

We were honoured to have an esteemed panel of speakers who lent their voices to the cause of empowerment. Prof Kris Marsh, Sihle Msibi, Rapelang Ramatlhodi, Ntiyiso Baloyi, Amogelang Mawela, Lindiwe Tshabalala, Refilwe Ngwaku and Noreen Mutavhatshindi shared their insights, experiences, and wisdom, igniting a fire of determination and purpose among our young girls and our wonderful volunteers (Itumeleng Chauke and Lettie Hlabane).

In a rapidly advancing digital landscape, coding and computing skills are becoming more crucial than ever. Our mission is to break down barriers and stereotypes by encouraging young girls to explore the fascinating digital world. The “Girls Code 2” initiative aims to spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and cultivate the problem-solving mindset that programming fosters. The competition was a resounding success, introducing young minds to the computing world through engaging, tangible coding games (developed by Tangible Africa) and further programming interactive sessions. This initiative would not have been possible without the expertise and guidance of the eager second-year Joint-Community Project students from the University of Pretoria.

This event was a testament to the power of collaboration, mentorship, and education. It demonstrated that we can make great strides towards a more empowered future when passionate individuals come together.

A heartfelt thank you to our distinguished speakers, generous donors (Friends, Families, dedicated participants, and the entire Keep That Gold Shining team who worked tirelessly to make this day a resounding success. Your commitment to our vision of building victorious women is genuinely commendable.

We are excited to share this incredible news that warms our hearts and reaffirms the power of collective compassion and giving. Thanks to your support and dedication, Keep That Gold Shining (KTG) successfully donated over 2000 packages (including packs of sanitary pads) to empower and uplift young girls in need. Menstrual hygiene is not just a necessity – it is a fundamental need that every young girl deserves, yet many girls around our country and the world face never-ending obstacles that prevent them from accessing proper sanitary products. With your unwavering support, we have taken a significant step toward breaking down these barriers and ensuring that over 1500 young girls can continue their education and dreams without interruption. This achievement is a testament to the incredible power of our community coming together to make a tangible impact. It reflects the kindness, empathy, and determination that resides in every one of us. Your contributions, whether big or small, have played an essential role in creating positive change in the lives of these young girls. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, shared, and supported our initiative. Your belief in our cause has made this milestone possible. While this is a significant achievement, it is also a reminder that we still have more work to do. We remain committed to empowering young girls and providing them with the resources they need to thrive. We would like to give a shoutout to Dis-Chem Pharmacies, specifically Dis-Chem Loftus – CKS, for assisting us to obtain the large majority of the sanitary pads in such a short period.

Our journey does not end here. With your continued support, we aim to expand our reach and impact, ensuring that every young girl can embrace her potential without limitations. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming initiatives and ways you can get involved.

Let us continue to uplift, empower, and inspire. The journey has just begun!
