Small Actions, Big Impact – Feedback from Group Evaluations
Dear KTG Students,
Thank you for taking the time to complete the Group Evaluation and for providing valuable feedback about your experience with KTG. We appreciate your honesty and engagement — your voices help us strengthen our role as a community partner and ensure that future students benefit even more.
You should receive an email before the 30th of September confirming that we have completed your Community Partner Assessment and submitted it to the JCP department. If you completed your 40 hours and do not receive an email by then, please let us know as soon as possible so we can complete it before the deadline.
Based on your feedback, here are the main areas you raised and how we are addressing them:
1. Communication & Program Design
From 2026 onwards, we plan for all KTG programs to be merged into a single integrated project. When you book an event, you will receive a comprehensive preparation pack to help you prepare properly. This will also ensure that each program is designed in advance so that activities build on each other rather than repeat.
We are also exploring 8-week program cycles for each of our partner schools, creating a structured, progressive experience.
2. Project Activities
We recognise that some tasks, like repeated posters and videos, felt less impactful. Under the new strategy, programs will focus far more on in-person, hands-on community activities, while still giving students flexibility to choose which events best suit them.
3. Time Management & Scheduling
Some students raised concerns about deadlines and the timing of opportunities. It’s important to clarify:
- All activities for each program were published in the Project Guide since February.
- Extra-hour opportunities were released on 12 August and due 31 August. These were an additional option — not a requirement — offered to assist students who had not completed their program tasks. Very few other community partners provide this kind of flexibility.
Looking ahead, with our shift to in-person events only, there will be hundreds of hours available and extra-hour opportunities will no longer be necessary. Students are responsible for making use of the opportunities provided. This reflects the graduate attributes assessed in the JCP module, particularly accountability and responsibility.
To illustrate this point, here are the pass rates (40+ hours completed) across our programs this year:
- BVW Program: 92.86%
- Computer Literacy Program: 90.34%
- MAP Program: 89.86%
- Mentorship Program: 90.00%
- Robotics Program: 88.70%
These completion rates are significantly higher than most other JCP community partners and higher than in previous years. Strict deadlines and accountability — supported by regular reminders — are part of why students succeed at KTG. We were also very generous with those who reached out to us in a timely manner, but late communication (months afterwards) cannot be rectified, just as in the real working world.
4. Transport & Logistics
We acknowledge concerns about transport and are reviewing our providers. All KTG drivers are required to comply fully with community taxi association regulations, which mandate specific documents and permits for anyone transporting passengers. These associations operate within local communities and are best placed to ensure safety, cultural understanding, and compliance.
- ✅ All our drivers are fully certified and compliant.
- ✅ Problematic drivers are immediately removed from the roster — but this depends on us being informed. If you ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable, please let us know immediately.
- ✅ Moving forward, we will implement stricter monitoring and requirements for all drivers.
Taxis remain the safest and most sustainable option for these projects: they support local communities, reinvest money into the areas we serve, and are far less likely to be targeted for opportunistic crimes.
5. Mentorship & Support
We are aware of challenges in the mentorship program this year. In 2026, the mentorship system will be completely redesigned to ensure better responsiveness, accountability, and support for both students and mentees.
6. Resources & Facilities
Many of our partner schools unfortunately lack sufficient resources. We are addressing this in two ways:
- Working with partners to improve conditions.
- Taking more equipment with us for each event to ensure activities can be delivered effectively.
Closing
We are proud of what was achieved this year and of the significant impact you made in our communities. Your feedback shows where we can grow, and we are committed to addressing these issues while maintaining the high standards that set KTG apart.
Never underestimate the power of your contribution. What may feel like a small, routine task to you — a kind word, a moment of encouragement, or showing up when you said you would — can be the spark that changes the entire course of someone’s life. We have seen former learners, now thriving in their careers and lifting their families out of poverty, tell us that it was a single interaction during a KTG program that shifted their mindset and gave them the belief to break the cycle.
You are part of that story. By stepping into these communities, you are not only completing a module — you are shaping futures.
Kind Regards

📢 Reminder: Group Evaluation Due Today @ Midnight
Dear KTG Students
This is a reminder that the Group Evaluation form is due at 23h59 TONIGHT.
- Mandatory Group Evaluation Form:
✅ Every person must complete this form: KTG Group Evaluation Form
⏰ The form closes on Monday, 8th September @ 23h59. There will be NO EXTENSION to this deadline.
Due to the almost 1000 JCP students involved with KTG this year, we rely on these evaluations instead of one-on-one meetings like other community partners. This feedback plays a significant role in completing your group’s community partner assessment and determining your final JCP mark. The more responses we receive from your group, the more accurately we can assess each member.
⚠️ NB: While other factors (hours, submissions, communication with KTG, event attendance) also contribute to your evaluation, if no group evaluations are submitted, the entire group will receive a default equivalent mark of 50%.
Kind Regards

⏰ Less Than 3 Days Left to Reach 40 Hours
Final Deadline to Reach 40 Hours: Monday, 1 September 2025 @ 23h59
Extra-Hour Opportunities Due: Sunday, 31 August 2025 @ 23h59
Dear KTG Students
We’re now in the final stretch—less than 3 days remain to complete your required 40 hours with KTG.
1) Check Your Hours Now
- Review your Hours Summary today. If hours do not appear there, they will not appear on your final Log Statement submitted to the JCP department.
- If anything is missing and you followed all Project Guide instructions and announcements, let us know now—don’t wait.
- Group submissions: Every member was required to submit either (1) the content or (2) proof of the group submission.
- If you did not submit one of the above before the deadline, those hours will not be granted. No exceptions.
- This requirement aligns with the Graduate Attributes assessed in the JCP module (personal accountability, professionalism, and documentation discipline).
2) Extra-Hour Opportunities (up to 12 hours)
You may complete Extra-Hour Opportunity 1 and/or Extra-Hour Opportunity 2 (6 hours each, total of up to 12 hours), provided:
- You follow every instruction exactly; and
- Your submission is of very high quality.
There will be no leniency on these submissions.
The extra-hour opportunity instructions can be found here: Extra-Hour Opportunity Guidelines
Important timing notes:
- Submissions requiring manual review take up to 3 working days.
- All submissions submitted before 12h00 today have already been reviewed. Please check that your submission was approved, or resubmit it.
- If you submit now, your work will likely only be reviewed after the final deadline.
- If it’s not accepted, you will NOT have a further opportunity to fix it. Plan your time well—submit early.
3) No Extensions & Finalisation
- No extensions will be made under any circumstances. This deadline was communicated to you in February, and there have been more than enough opportunities to earn 40 hours. All KTG programs have students who have already earned over 95 hours, so 40 was more than achievable.
- All hours will be finalised and submitted to JCP after Monday, 1st September 2025.
- After 1 September, no further changes can be made.
4) Coming Soon (Next Week)
- Community Partner Assessment information
- Final Log Statement information
Please act now: Check your Hours Summary, fix any gaps immediately (if eligible), and ensure any extra-hour submissions are complete, high-quality, and submitted early.

📢 Mentorship Hours Update – Please Check Your Hours
Dear Mentorship Students,
We have identified and corrected a small oversight in our records where, in a few cases, students may have been allocated double hours for the same career report for the same mentee.
This adjustment only affected a small number of students, but everyone is encouraged to check their allocated hours again.
If you know that you previously received double hours for the same mentee, you will now see a reduction in your total hours.
In such cases, please check whether you still meet your total required hours. If you are now short of hours, you can take part in an Extra-Hour Opportunity to make up the difference.
Thank you for your understanding and for keeping your records up to date.
Kind regards,
KTG Mentorship Team
📢 Mentorship hours CLARIFICATION
1. Mandatory In-Person Event – This Saturday
Attendance is compulsory unless you excuse yourself via email with a valid reason.
Even if you already have 40 hours, it is not fair to your mentee if you skip this session without proper notice. This is your chance to meet them in person, hand over your work, and ensure your impact is complete. Missing this without good reason will diminish the value of all the work you’ve done so far.
2. “Build a Pathway” Assignment – Optional
This task is only for those who struggled to get enough online mentorship hours. You do not need to do it if you are already on track.
3. Other Extra Hours Opportunities
If you are struggling to reach 40 hours, there are also two other extra hours assignments available—together worth 12 additional hours.
📢 Extra-Hour Opportunities
You can complete Extra-Hour Opportunity 1 or Extra-Hour Opportunity 2, or both. Each task is worth 6 hours.
- Due Date: 31st August 2025 @23h59
- Reminder of Final Deadline to Reach 40 Hours: 1 September 2025
- If you fail to reach 40 hours by 1 September, you will automatically fail JCP.
Important:
- Submit your work as soon as possible. If your submission is rejected (wrong file uploaded or quality not good enough), you will still have time to resubmit before the deadline.
- We are aware of the test week and that the due date is soon. However, this is an extra-hour opportunity that you can do at any time between now and then. This is a “gift” from us to those who need additional hours at this point in the year, despite the many other opportunities before this.
- No extensions will be made under any circumstances.
Extra-Hour Opportunities Guideline (Click to View)
Why this is important:
KTG has been highly accommodating—offering numerous opportunities on top of our structured programs—and our pass rate is higher than most other community partners.
All hours will be finalised and submitted to the JCP department on the 2nd of September. After the final deadline (1st September), no further changes can be made under any circumstances. This deadline has been communicated since the very beginning of all programs.
Your responsibility:
- Check your log sheet to ensure you are at 40 hours or more.
- Any submissions that you were not awarded hours for, due to not following ALL Project Guide instructions, will not be awarded to you under any circumstances.
- Any hours queries after the 1st of September will be ignored. By that point, the data will be in the UP system, and changes will not be possible.
- You have had access to your hours all year—please ensure they are correct now.
Kind Regards
KTG Team
📢 FORMATTING MATTERS: Final Career Reports
Dear KTG Mentorship Students,
This is a final reminder that your Career Reports are due by Sunday, 3 August 2025. This is a compulsory submission, and no late submissions or resubmissions will be accepted.
All Personal Career Reports submitted before 15h20 today have already been reviewed, but most submissions were NOT approved. Please ensure that you read the points below to ensure that your submission is approved and that you do not miss out on the hours!
Additionally, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK IF YOUR SUBMISSIONS HAVE BEEN APPROVED. You need to request your hours summary and keep checking to see if your submissions are approved. If they are not approved, you must make the necessary adjustments and resubmit before the deadline. We will not be accepting any late submissions or imperfect submissions.
🔹 Use the latest template found in the Project Guide
🔹 Refer to the Project Guide for all formatting and submission instructions
🔹 The report must be submitted as a PDF, with the correct file naming format
🔹 Ensure that the border is properly aligned and does not cut off any content – misaligned borders will result in automatic rejection
🔹 If you’re struggling with the border, remove it rather than submitting it incorrectly
🔹 The report must have both the KTG and UP logos on every page
🕒 You will earn 5.5 JCP hours for this final submission (plus extra if you have more than one mentee), but only if all formatting is perfect and instructions are followed exactly.
⚠️ Reviews take up to 3 working days – submit early to allow time for corrections, as any required changes must still be submitted before the final deadline.
📘 For full guidelines, template, and submission link, please check the Project Guide.
Let’s finish strong – best of luck finalising your reports!
