Celebrating Heritage Day at Thulaganyo Secondary School

Heritage Day is a reminder of the beautiful diversity that makes South Africa so special. It is a day when we pause to reflect on our many cultures, traditions, and histories – and to remember that, although our country can feel divided at times, it is moments like these that bring us together in unity and pride.

On Tuesday 23rd September 2025, Thulaganyo Secondary School came alive with the vibrant spirit of Heritage Day. Learners and staff arrived dressed in traditional attire that reflected the richness of their cultures, filling the school with colour and pride. The sound of song and the rhythm of dance echoed across the school grounds as stories were shared, laughter was heard, and the beauty of our heritage was celebrated in full. On 24 September, the official public holiday, our learners carried this spirit home to their families and friends, continuing the celebrations within their communities.

Days like these remind us that our differences are not something to divide us, but something to celebrate – for together, they weave the fabric of a culture-rich South Africa. At Thulaganyo Secondary School, we live by our motto: Being the light to guide the way in darkness. In moments of unity and celebration, we shine that light even brighter. We are also proud to share in the vision of our partners at Keep That Gold Shining NPC, whose motto, Together We Can,” perfectly captures the spirit of Heritage Day.

Together, we celebrate. Together, we learn. Together, we grow – as one nation, united in heritage.
