KTG shines at Thulaganyo Secondary: a day of sport, talent and empowerment

On Saturday, 24 May 2025, Keep That Gold Shining transformed Thulaganyo Secondary School into a celebration ground where netball courts, classroom stages and motivational mic stands worked in harmony to uplift more than 300 learners.

Netball tournament sets the tone

Eight mixed-grade teams laced up for a friendly yet fiercely contested round-robin. Cheers echoed across the campus as last-minute goals swung score lines and players high-fived opposing sides—living proof that sport can unite across classes, genders and skill levels.

Talent show uncovers hidden stars

Inside the hall, dancers, poets and vocalists took turns under the spotlight. From Afropop covers to a home-grown rap about exam stress, every act earned roars of approval. The show reminded learners that creative confidence is just as valuable as athletic prowess.

Voices that motivate

Guest speakers Qhawekazi Mazaleni (social-impact entrepreneur) and Itumeleng Mahlangu (semi-professional netball coach) delivered back-to-back keynotes on resilience, goal-setting and balancing schoolwork with sport. Their relatable stories drew nods and wide-eyed focus from the crowd.

Volunteers behind the magic

JCP student team (UP) – managed fixtures, judged talent entries and handed out refreshments.
School staff – opened classrooms, kept score sheets accurate and cheered the loudest.
Community vendors – donated balloons and (instant-hit) chocolates for prize hampers.

Impact & next steps

Learners left clutching new friendships, refreshed confidence and invitations to join the school’s fledgling girls’ sports society. KTG will follow up with coaching clinics and leadership workshops in term 3, building on the momentum of the “Building Victorious Women” theme.

Thank you, Thulaganyo Secondary! Together we proved that joy, teamwork and empowerment thrive when community partners pull in the same direction.
