On May 24, 2025, Keep That GOLD Shining (KTG) had the privilege of hosting 15 children from Phumlani Projects at the exciting Tuks Robot Day. These young learners joined approximately 90 other students from three different schools who were part of the formal Tuks Robot School (TRS) program, all gathered to experience the thrill of Robot Race Day.
It was a day brimming with learning, discovery, and inspiration.
The children embarked on an insightful tour of the Engineering Campus, witnessing lecture halls where students dedicate themselves to their engineering degrees. They learned about various fields of engineering and saw these concepts brought to life during the captivating Robot Day showcase.
For the children from Phumlani Projects, an orphanage and aftercare facility in Soshanguve Block SS, this educational trip and tour was more than just a day out. It was an opportunity to dream big, envisioning a future filled with possibilities and imagining themselves attending university.
Meaningful Community Outreach
This initiative stands out as a truly meaningful community outreach, bringing positive change to previously disadvantaged communities. By partnering with non-profit organizations (NPOs) in areas like Soshanguve, Mabopane, and beyond, KTG is able to drive its mission of providing platforms for growth and strengthening relationships with schools, communities, and other like-minded NPOs. This collaboration is vital in contributing to a better tomorrow for all.
Our dedicated representatives are deeply committed to our mission of unlocking the full potential of South Africa’s youth. As members of the South African community, our goal is to provide access to information and opportunities that many, including some members of our own team, may not have had.
Our Dedicated Community Development & Engagement Team
The Community Development & Engagement Team plays a crucial role in strengthening relationships with communities, schools, and volunteers. This team is led by our Community Outreach Coordinators, Teacher Tshwarelo, Lesego Ndala, and Kgotso Marandela. Their responsibilities include:
* Organizing and facilitating school outreach programs, career talks, and mentorship forums.
* Engaging with local government and NGOs to expand KTG’s reach.
The success of this educational trip and tour, where KTG ensured the safe transportation of the children from their homes to the university and back, was truly amazing. The joy and thrill experienced during the Tuks Robot School Day were amplified by our partnership with Educational Trips and Tours, who generously sponsored the food for the day.
This event truly showcases the power and drive of South African youth, especially the students who will be facilitating TRS this year, joined by the dedicated KTG representatives.
