About KTG
Keep That Gold Shining (KTG) is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to unlocking the potential of South African learners through academic, technological, personal, and community development.
Founded in 2014 by university students, KTG is built on the belief that juntos podemos—together we can. We connect communities through programs that inspire pride, purpose, and practical skills.
What is KTG WEEK?
This July, KTG is launching an exciting and immersive KTG Week designed to bring an entire community behind the power of education. Centred around real-world application and joyful learning, the program connects children with local entrepreneurs, parents, teachers, and vendors to explore how education can fuel creativity, skills, and future success.
Themed Days
The week is structured to highlight the real-world value of education through themed days:
🧮 Wednesday – Mathematics & Entrepreneurship
Learners solve practical math challenges and are paired with local entrepreneurs who will mentor them through the week.
💻 Thursday – Computer Literacy
In teams, learners explore Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, using these tools to support their partner’s business. They’ll draft a business plan, calculate costs and inventory, and create a marketing poster.
🤖 🎨 Friday – Robotics & Art
Teams design and build egg-carrying cars using either recycled community litter or a fixed budget. The challenge teaches robotics, physics, and planning, ending with a creative decorating competition. Meanwhile, learners help paint a permanent mural on the school wall, celebrating education through art.
🛍️ Saturday – Market Day
A community-wide event where learners present their projects, showcase their work with their mentor vendors, race their cars, and unveil their mural. Families, local leaders, vendors, companies and education institutes are invited to celebrate the learners’ growth and reinforce the collective role we all play in empowering the next generation.
KTG WEEK is more than a program—it’s a movement to reignite excitement around education.
When communities come together around learning, children thrive—and the future changes!
Whether you’re a parent, partner, entrepreneur, volunteer, or just curious—there’s a place for you at KTG WEEK.
